"I want to declutter- but where do I begin?!"

I get asked this all the time. It's a great question!
While there is no one-size-fits all answer that works for everyone, here are some important things to consider while you figure out what works best for you.
Decide how much time and capacity you have- 15 minutes, 5 hours? Decluttering is a way of life and often has to do with time and task management, which can also be learned.
Consider whether you want to focus on a category (eg, clothes), room (eg, kitchen), or area (eg, office desk). Pick one and see it through to completion (sort, purge, organize keeps).
Establish a timeline and incentive- is someone visiting soon, or are you moving in a few months? Make organizing appointments in your calendar and try your best to stay consistent.
If you’re tired, burned out, or experiencing decision fatigue, it’s no wonder you’re not clear or motivated to start! Here’s a suggested order for a basic tidy: 1) toss trash, 2) bag up donations 3) put away items that have an obvious home first, 4) create a home for things that don’t have one yet.
If you've tried everything, including Marie Kondo's life changing magic of tidying up, but you're still stuck or needing support, reach out! We serve Greater Los Angeles in-person and folks all over the world online, with video sessions.
